Why is my connection to the internet faster than to another computer on my home network?

I tested this downloading a 5 Mg file from the internet, the copied the file to another computer. I don’t have wireless netorking, the house is wired with regular lan cable & an linksys wired router.

    Put into consideration the computer itself. Hardware speed and amount of on load the computer. The type and specs of the lan card in the computer. Also don’t forget to look into viruses and spy-ware they slow down a computer too.

    Check the speed of the ethernet card (network card) if it is the old type ie. below 10/1000 fastnet then that explains it.

    Bad cabling, bad router, signal interference across the wire, any number of things. Make sure your cable isn’t kinked or being run over lights or other electrical wires.
