How do i password protect an external hard drive i am sharing on a home network?

i have an external HD hooked up to one of my computers on my wireless home network. i want to share in on the network, but have it password protected. how do i do this?

    theres a wire….sorry i forgot wut it called…but anyways…you connect it with your home internet THF….

    if the computer is in a network…
    proceed to the my computer -> then select the desired disk -> right click -> properties -> go to sharing tab -> uncheck the checkbox -”share this on the network” and check the “make this private ” in an administrator account
    but you cannot provide a password
