Purchasing new computer ~ Want WiFi or Wireless capabilities on desktop ~ What should I look for?

Curiosity1962 asked:

I’m looking at purchasing a new computer for school and home use. At the same time, I am planning to set up a wireless home network. I have found a couple of desktops & laptops that I am interested in, but am confused about the networking capabilities.

Here are my questions:
1. What is an integrated network adapter? Does it provide wireless networking capabilities, or would I have to purchase an additional adapter?
2. What is an 802.11b/g wireless LAN adapter? Is this just available on laptops, or is it also available on desktops?
3. Which is better? Which would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for any help given!
Have a great day!

Integrated network adapter is an onboard network interface card. This is for wired networks. The wireless LAN adapter is for wireless networks. These usually come standard on laptops and not on desktops (which usually are set up for wired networks by standard) If your going to purchse a desktop, you would probably have to buy the wireless card separately.

In my own knowledge network adapter is also a lan adapter for some computers dey r built-in. Wireless it is u want? i think most desktop pc’s have no wireless capabilities…but most laptops do…if u wnt dat ur pc desktop wil have wifi capabilities u may either buy external wifi antenna or dis so called (802.11b/g wireless LAN USB adapter) which is used to connect in ur usb ports(located at the back or infront of most desktop pc’s)…ok. I recommend for schools…Desktop PC’S and for UR Home…Laptop….ayos…ok. ;)
