Possible port blocking on your router/firewall or a software firewall, try using this site:

It’s free and there is practically no configuration needed.

Windows has Remote Desktop Connection built in. However, it sounds like either your firewall is blocking it or your router is not configured to support incoming remote connections.

Use VNC - Download the free version from VNC.com. You will need to install this on both machines. You can give your home machine a password so that when you try to “VNC” to this machine you will have to specify the password. When you install it - take your time - leave all settings at there defaults - at the end of the install it will walk you through creating a password - l

Note this will only work if your hooked up directly to your cable /dsl modem or VPN’ed into your home network.

Once the install has finished - Get your IP address - Start run cmd - click ok - type in ipconfig.

From the “other machine” After you install VNC - go to Start / Programs /RealVnc / VNC Viewer / Run Vnc Viewer - Enter the ip address of your home machine in the server drop down - when promted enter in the password you created on your home machine.

    Good luck!
