How do I send an instant message between networked computers in my home without being “online”?
boone_platoon asked:
at my old job, we used to be able to send messages to other people on the network using the “run” command…. i cant remember exactly how to do it, but i think you had to know the name of each computer that you wanted to “chat” with.

what is blu-ray live? how do i get it thru my Sony blu-ray player?
lacatts asked:
we have home computer networking throughout the house. What do I need to access blu-ray live?
It does have an ethernet port in the back, but I can’t find a wireless thingy that will fit in it. Maybe I just have to run a wire thru the house?

Can I use a wireless-g broadband router as a wireless adapter to connect a computer to my home network?
Anukama asked:
I have a Buffalo Wireless-G 125 High Speed Router & Access point that I have been using with a Buffalo notebook adapter for awhile and am very impressed with the High Speed Mode, and wanted to connect my desktop with this as well. Sadly I’ve found that Buffalo is currently being sued and has halted shipment of all wireless products in the US. I haven’t been able to find any Buffalo High Speed PCI cards or USB adapters, but I have found many of the High Speed routers the same or similar as the one I’m currently using and was hoping to find out if I could connect one of these to my desktop to be used to access my network, instead of establishing a network. I found a Buffalo Wireless-N Nfiniti PCI card for only $35.00 but I haven’t even opened it yet because, as far as I can tell, it isn’t backwards compatible with the High Speed Mode of the Broadcom 54G chipset. I know the Buffalo wireless-g MIMO Performance products have this ability but I haven’t found an adapter for that either.
I am wanting to use a router to connect my desktop to my “wireless” network, “router” to “router” in case this isn’t obvious from my explanation. i.e: desktop>LAN>router connected wirelessly to router>DSL modem>DSL line. Thank you!

How do I set up printer sharing on a home network?

Why did my home network fail, so my laptop won’t print to the printer attached to the desk top home computer?
ptc712 asked:
I have Yahoo DSL. It was easy to set up a year or so ago when I got it. I even set up a network in the house so my laptop could print to the printer attached to the other desk top computer. But suddenly, a few months ago, I couldn’t do that any more — I would get an error message.
The laptop’s diagnostics told me that either (1) a cable was unplugged (but this is a wireless network, so there are no cables) or (2) my router — you know, the box that came with the DSL set-up — wasn’t connected or wasn’t working properly. But it’s turned on, all the lights are on, and both the laptop and the other computer can access the internet wirelessly.
So, what’s my problem?

remove a computer from home network?
fatty_cholesterol asked:
I have a laptop that is able to wirelessly connect to other computers. I had it connected to my ex-bf’s computer and we had file sharing and whatnot. Well, my computer is now searching for missing files on his computer, which is rediculous because his computer is no where around. I need to know how to remove his computer from being seen by my computer and to get my computer to stop looking for files on his computer. Any thoughts?
